Derech HaYam (Via Maris)
The company is in charge of building the desalination plant, capable of processing up to 30 million m3 (1060 million cubic feet) of seawater annually. During the plant's construction, the following technologies were utilized:
Digging a pumping hole and a centralizing hole underneath groundwater level. A 500-meter (1640-foot)-long pipeline was built between two points by inserting 250 cm-wide iron pipe, with surveyors and specialized equipment charting the direction of the pipeline.
The concrete works and the type of concrete used provided unique solutions for protecting the iron from water, corrosion, and sealing.
A top-down method was used in order to shorten the schedule due to land constraints, an inability to use ground anchors, etc.
